Picnic At Silver Lake - Ahhh Summer

After all that snow last week I thought it would be fun to visit the lake, like we did last summer. This was a wonderfully warm and sunny day last September - everyone was enjoying the lake.

It is Silver Lake County Park, about an hour away - there is picnicking, swimming, boating, camping and snug little cabins to rent.

Peaceful and calm. The buildings across the lake are the lodge and a larger cabin that groups and families can rent.

Some boys were enjoying a day of jumping off the dock . . .

Splash!

Getting ready for a kayak ride . . .

Lots of kayaks and canoes that day . . .

The view from our picnic table . . .

Taking the dog along . . .

I was hoping to see a hawk in this old dead tree - we had seen one before, but not today, just the lovely old tree . . .

Ahhh summer, where are you planning a picnic next summer - never to early to start planning.

A Trip To Birch Bay and Blaine

From the waterfront in Blaine, WA you can see across to Whiterock, BC - barely . . .

Let's take a closer look . . .

Oh now I see it - houses - big towering buildings - even the old water tower . . .

Do you see that heron out there among the Canada Geese?

Yes, that heron . . .

Such a beautiful bird . . .

Canada Geese passing through . . .

Must be feeding time . . .

And bath time . . .

Walking about and visiting time . . .

Seagulls - also on the beach at Blaine . . .

Gotta love that new camera!

Good bye!

Wow - Snow!

It started a few days ago - they said 1-2 inches - we got about 5, then they said a few days and then more snow - we got 4 more - then they said no snow overnight - we got 2". Guess we can't count on "them". And then not many miles south of here they got no snow until last night, and a few miles south of that there is forecast up to 16" more - go figure. Just hope that 16" stays south. And yet in that same area some places have no snow at all and some have more than plenty. It is a crazy weather pattern, and they are saying rain by Friday to melt it all - we'll see.

The little neighbor girls just went by, dragging their sled up the hill beside our yard - fun is about to commence!!!

This morning on the deck. . .

Deck railing and top of swingset . . .

No one is swinging on these rings today . . .

The magic of snow covered trees . . .

Bird feeder on the end of the swing set . . .

Rain gauge last night - it is a bird with a rain tube on it . . .

Rain gauge this morning . . .

Small deck table last night . . .

Barbecue

Swingset with more feeders on this end . . .

Close up of the feeder . . .
Bird feeding station out by the street, we will be cleaning these off and refilling soon.

Deck chair last night . . .

Deck chair this morning . . .

Deck table last night. What looks like frog eyes are two gnomes who got snowed under.

Deck table this morning - no sign of those hardy gnomes.

And we are expecting more snow. Don is working from home today, I will be knitting and for dinner beef/rice/cheesey casserole and salad - just right for a wintery day.

What are you doing this wonderful day?
