Tulips in the spring

The tulips are not quite blooming here yet - but they are blooming in my dreams. These tulips are all from California - in gardens I had when we lived there. I adore tulips and can't have them here because the deer eat them like candy. There is hardly anything sadder than coming out the door on a lovely spring day to look at the flowers and finding all the heads bitten off the tulips - sad indeed. So no tulips here - but we can enjoy that California tulips. Come along - they are waiting for you.

I love red and white tulips together . . .

These red tulips were in a window box - they really perked up the house - and we could see them from the dining room table.

Tulips in a raised bed, with borage growing outside the bed . . .

And who can resist yellow tulips along a picket fence?

LOVE them Jo!!! I remember watching a beautiful poppy coming up, up , up and just ready to bloom. I was still working night shift, so I would say good morning to it as I walked passed it on my way in the house. I went to bed, got up in the afternoon, walked outside and it had been "weeded"......sad, sad, sad.....

Jo, I also adore tulips. Haven't got much of a garden but if I did....tulips would be the thing. Our Aussie climate isn't that good for them. Your photos are very peaceful. I also love putting tulip shapes into my applique.
Thanks for the photos they are just lovely!

How pretty to see these while it's still so cold here. I had bulbs that had their greenery about 3 inches above ground before we had our 30+ inches of snow. I hope they have managed to stay "well" under all this snow.

I love tulips too but it's rare that they actually bloom here, they just get the heads formed and then we get a hard freeze.

Hi Joann - I loved them too, my favorites being Pink Impression and Queen of the Night......with purple pansies mixed in. I have problems with the squirrels biting off the heads too - it's so upsetting!!

At least you get to enjoy the deer. I hope? Hey, the tulips in Skagit County will be early this year!!!! Very late last year.

Aren't they beautiful! I love tulips too. We used to have quite a few when we lived in the midwest, but the red ones would revert to yellow sometimes, never could figure that out. ~Lili
