Thrifty Treasures
A good day for some thrifty treasures - stop over at Southern Hospitality and find other great blogs with thrifty treasures.
I only have two this time - but they are really good ones. I have a teapot collection, all of them are solid colors - and I've been looking for a cobalt blue one for years (20 years ). I found one in SoCal a long, long time ago. I'd been getting the solid color ones for about 2.00 at a swap meet on the border and when the vendor asked for 5.00 I passed - thinking it was too much. Oh how I've regretted that decision as I've not found another since then - until now.
Just look at that beauty - shiny and blue and so flashy looking. It is going to look great on the top of my cabinets in the kitchen with all its friends. And I paid - are you ready for this - 4.99 - and that isn't bad for inflation in 20 years. :-)
Sitting nearby were these small pyrex bowls. Now you know I love pyrex - especially when it is in such beautiful condition - almost mint. These individual bowls are about 3" across - just the thing for individual servings of pudding, or baked beans - oh the possibilities. They were 1.99 each - more than I usually pay for second hand - but come on - they are perfect - and they were sitting near the teapot - I just couldn't leave them there. I haven't used them yet - but as soon as it gets cool enough I think I'll make some baked beans.
Love that teapot, and the blue and yellow are wonderful together!
ReplyDeleteVery cute & yes, Pyrex is some wonderful stuff. I use mine all the time.
ReplyDeleteLove the teapot...I think solid colored ones are more rare...AND pyrex is really 'vintage'...grab up all that you see at a bargain!!!
ReplyDeleteYour Mr. Ben is sooo cute in your previous post!!!
GREAT buys....I still have a set of pyrex bowls that I use a LOT and they were from around the time I got married...so coming up to 42 years. They are getting a bit faded in color on the outside, but I love them anyway.

What great finds. I never take the time to look around, but when I see things like you found, I wish I had taken time. I also have a teapot collection, and it is way out of hand (as with everything else in my life). Love the Pyrex. I am a fan of Pyrex also.
ReplyDeleteI just found your blog through Quilting Daze and really am enjoying it. Will be back often.
ReplyDeleteLove the teapot and bowls! My teapot collection is small, but I just love them.
ReplyDeleteLove your teapot!! I have way too many teapots. :)
ReplyDeleteMy mom used to serve us pudding in dishes just like that when We were growing up! We also had red ones, four of each color.
ReplyDeleteAlthough I don't collect teapots, I do collect fabric in teapot prints. AT some point I'm going to make a quilt with them. I love the little Pyrex dishes. Those would be perfect for dessert. Maybe some fresh berry cobbler?
ReplyDeleteHello--I'm partying a little late this week! I LOVE those pyrex bowls, simply adorable. Thanks for sharing.
