Holyhocks - Hollyhocks - Hollyhocks
On Friday nights we like to take a picnic and go down to the Alaska Ferry Terminal and watch them finish loading the cars and then watch as the ferry departs. Last Friday we decided to drive up on the hillside by the bay to get a better view. The view was fantastic - but I didn't take any photos of the water because the sun was reflecting so brightly.
As we drove up and down a few of the streets we saw the most beautiful flower gardens - and one I just had to stop at and get pictures - the most amazing garden of hollyhocks I'd ever seen. You could not even see the house for all the flowers. The sun was behind the flowers and they seemed to glow.

Just beautiful!!!! I don't think anything can beat PNW gardens.
Your photos are just beautiful Jo! The hollyhocks out there must be as prolific as our lupines here, they are always that much more spectacular en masse. Really love how you captured them all lit up like that. ~Lili
What stunning flowers! I love them, but don't have much luck growing them.
I've never grown hollyhocks but I love to see them in gardens. Happily my next door neighbour has some that I can enjoy. The ones in the photos are really beautiful, such delicious colours.
Oh....What beautiful Hollyhocks!! My Grandma used to grow them every summer & they are beautiful!!

Beautiful!!! Did the homeowner wonder why you were taking so many photos? (I hope you told him/her that you did it for your blog readers!!! LOL)
Beautiful!! I think what I miss the most are the dahlia gardens. You can grow them here but you have to dig them up each winter.

Gorgeous! I haven't had good luck with hollyhocks but I love them!
Hollyhocks are so old-fashioned and wonderful! Flowers seem to thrive near the ocean!
Your vintage beauties are ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS! Thank you for sharing such beautiful photographs...
Hope your day is sunny & sweet :)
