It's time for some fun around here

It has been so serious here lately - I feel like I need some fun - so let's play with the thrift shop stuff. There are some fun things I haven't shown you yet - and I know you really want to see them.

This group of hankies was sitting in a little basket on the counter in a thrift shop that I rarely go to because they generally don't have very good stuff. I saw the basket and almost walked by - until I saw the price - 29 cents each.

Well, I just couldn't gather them up fast enough - pink ones - blue ones - yellow - embroidered - lacy - sheer - oh the fun. And only 29 cents each.

Lots of lace - lots of scallops - lots of pretty, pretty, pretty . . . and 29 cents each.

And all starched and ironed - and folded in little triangles . . .and only 29 cents each.

I left a few - didn't want to seem piggy - but I didn't leave any of the cute ones, or any of the pretty ones, or any of the embroidered ones, or any with the crocheted edgings - ooops - oink oink oink - got a little piggy there. But I was a happy piggy - I am collecting vintage linens and especially hankies, and one day I shall make a crazy quilt of them - and these new ones will certainly be stars!!!! And only 29 cents each!!! Did I already mention that?

I knew you wanted to see these - so what have you gotten lately at the thrift store? I really want to see what you got. And did you pay only 29 cents each?

Well, aren't you proud of yourself, oink oink. You are cracking me up. And yes, I'm jealous I wasn't at that shop, because I don't go to the ones that don't often have good stuff. See. You were meant to have all those pretty, lacy, embroidered, ironed pretties.

hahaha....funny timing on this post as today I posted about an embroidered towel I got at a yard sale for just 25 cents yesterday. I LOVE it. Your hankies are WONDERFUL.

Those are really very pretty for just 29 cents each, though it would be hard to cut them up and put in a quilt even if they were only 29 cents each. LOL

I love these - I pick them up whenever I find the for cheap - but have to admit - haven't found any for 29 cents yet!!! There is a local lady who has a yard sale 2x a month - and she sells nothing for over 10 cents or a quarter!!!! Still looking for hankies there tho!! LOL-

That sure was a good deal. I have several from Richard's Aunts. They just don't make them like that anymore. The new ones are so thin you can see through them. The older ones also quiet often had lots of hand work on them.

Love all the hankies!

Yikes! 29 cents each. What a bargain. Most thrift shops know when something is vintage and charge accordingly but you got a bargain.

OH my goodness...those are just beautiful....and only 29cents each. I have a box of hankies that my mom gave me and I want to make a quilt with them as well.

Wow, Jo, you did great! One of the prettiest quilts I have ever seen was made using old hankies. What are you going to do with yours?

I just wanted to let you both know that I'm thinking about you.

Wow Jo, I've said it before, you find all the good stuff. I have a dear friend that still uses her gorgeous hankies.
I love seeing where all of your visitors are from, that is very coo.

That's a great haul there! I don't have a digital camera so I can't show you but I got some good trade paperbacks for a dollar each, including "Big Stone Gap" (loved it and will read the sequels) and "Wicked", which I had been meaning to pick up.

Also a really nice owl to send to my friend in England who loves owls.

I love old hankies! I got some (new ones) once from an Amish store and made a buffet runner by overlapping them on point edge, if you can picture it. Turned out really pretty. I am sure your quilt will be beautiful!
