Picnic At Silver Lake - Ahhh Summer

After all that snow last week I thought it would be fun to visit the lake, like we did last summer. This was a wonderfully warm and sunny day last September - everyone was enjoying the lake.

It is Silver Lake County Park, about an hour away - there is picnicking, swimming, boating, camping and snug little cabins to rent.

Peaceful and calm. The buildings across the lake are the lodge and a larger cabin that groups and families can rent.

Some boys were enjoying a day of jumping off the dock . . .

Splash!

Getting ready for a kayak ride . . .

Lots of kayaks and canoes that day . . .

The view from our picnic table . . .

Taking the dog along . . .

I was hoping to see a hawk in this old dead tree - we had seen one before, but not today, just the lovely old tree . . .

Ahhh summer, where are you planning a picnic next summer - never to early to start planning.

Good morning Jo! What a wonderful place to have a picnic...makes you want winter to hurry up and go away doesn't it. I had to smile when I saw this post as I'm working on one that has pictures of summers spent here on the farm...I guess we're all dreaming of warmer weather. This summer we'll be up in British Columbia visiting my family and seeing our new grandbaby...so I'm sure we'll be having a picnic up there. Enjoy your Sunday!

Right along with you - planning to get out with the trailer. A trip to the Cowboy Festival, we hope. And a trip north to coincide with my sister's birthday. And across Canada to go to DS1's wedding in August. Hoping for a nice long, warm summer!

That was lovely! It's never too late to start planning. There something about a lake, isn't there? I love lake swimming and didn't do any at all last year. Your pictures made me long for a lazy summer day.

Ah, that looks so perfect! For a picnic, for a canoe ride, for a lazy day of sitting and reflecting on how good life is. I have never been there, but I've heard many stories about Silver Lake... used to know some folks who went there every summer for a church campout.

That looks a great place for a picnic. The thought of a picnic at the moment isn't very appealing I'm afraid:) It's been cold, windy and wet for the last few days. I must admit we don't do picnics all that much, if we go anywhere we tend to stop at a quiet country pub for lunch.

Ahhh summertime! I'm a year round picnic-er, but it sure is fun to look back on warm weather this time of year. Zucchini bread coming right up to take on our next picnic. ~Lili

Great pictures, Jo. I am planning on being in PA in July to camp with all my kids, so I guess that counts as picnicing?

Thanks for the reminder that winter does in fact end. I could feel the warmth, the ease, the sense of adventure that can only come with summer. Really great photos!

A trip to the lake is a nice memory for a cold day. Our bulbs are coming up but it is way too early. I worry about how they will fare.
